A Healthy Mind: Three Weeks of Mental Fitness, Week Two

For centuries, contemplative traditions have known that happiness and a beneficial frame of mind do not necessarily come naturally to us; they must be developed through training. Similar to working with a personal trainer to become physically fit, meditators engage in mind training in order to become mentally fit. Understanding specific theoretical principles, then practicing those principles through a structured sequence of thought training exercises, those who practiced mind training discovered that they became more able to happily navigate the ups and downs of daily life, experiencing greater emotional wellness and mental clarity.

With one month until the next mind training series begins at Cabrillo College, this overview of the traditions and practices of mind training explores the philosophical background of this approach and provides instruction in its practices. Open to new and continuing meditators of all levels.
